Geordie started out in the health and fitness industry over 15 years ago by getting into sports/remedial massage. Originally a structural engineer, Geordie took up massage therapy after gaining benefit from a combination of massage and Osteopathic treatment for cricketing injuries. Eventually, Geordie decided that a career in Osteopathy was far more rewarding than engineering. Along the way Geordie has also studied fitness and personal training with the knowledge that clients need to help themselves as much as we can help them. Geordie played district (premier) cricket for many years and had a few seasons in the 1sts before injury and work cut short a blossoming career (ahem). Geordie also competed in squash and basketball. He had the distinction of being ranked in the top 10 squash players in the vast (and largely unpopulated) Pilbara region of WA.These days Geordie is often seen out on the Yarra battling along in the super-tanker surf ski. With the years of sporting experience and his fair share of injuries Geordie has a great degree of empathy towards athletes, weekend warriors and office workers alike.
Geordie works with the philosophy of if there's movement there's room for improvement and Osteopathy is for the whole family, the athlete, everyone!
Geordie also works as a fitness instructor and personal trainer seeking to enhance the client’s well being and body awareness by embracing the philosophy of the inter-relationship of the body’s structure and function and utilizing this with both treatment and exercise programming. You'll see Geordie taking the Wednesday night strength class.
Whilst Geordie has treated Commonwealth and Olympic athletes he particularly enjoys working with the beginner or those returning from injury whose aim is to challenge themselves and enjoy the benefits of a healthy body - the Vigor philosophy. Sarah has maintained a strong interest in Sports Podiatry since completing her Bachelor of Podiatry at La Trobe University. She worked at Windy Hill in Melbourne for several years, before continuing podiatric practice in London and Sydney. Lower limb non-weight-bearing and walking analysis helps identify gait anomolies, which may be putting the athlete at risk of injury, or be contributing to their current hip, knee, shin, ankle or foot pains. Sarah enjoys helping both the adult and adolescent athlete achieve their optimum level of performance. She is as equally excited however at helping the “not so sporty” population obtain relief from acute and chronic pains, often unnecessarily endured for several weeks or months before advice is sought. Sarah also assesses lower limb posture and function in children, especially during their initial developmental years. Training environment and everyday variables including work activities, flooring, footwear, body-weight and posture, have significant impact in determining the onset, extent and rate of injury recovery. Sarah takes great satisfaction providing a comprehensive, holistic approach to patients’ podiatric needs in response to their particular lifestyle. Vigor health and fitness delivers an exciting context for Sarah to help her patients, as she finds they benefit most from being looked after in a multi-disciplinary health care environment. In this day and age we are constantly on the go and ready for action. Our adrenal systems are running on overload and many of us sit for unnaturally long periods of time at the computer, causing pain, stiffness and headaches. Relaxation massage can become a dose of “concentrated relaxation” to prevent burnout as well as addressing pain and assisting in the prevention of overuse injuries. JESSICA ISGRO
Jessica Isgro is new to the health industry but has already gained experience across a dynamic range of workplaces. Jessica has worked as a Remedial massage therapist with Mount Street Chiropractic centre (Lalor, Heidelberg and North Carlton). She has also worked with West Preston Football club and has provided corporate massage for ANZ, Dimension Data, Colliers International, Banyule Council as well as for special events around Melbourne such as ‘Sisters Day Out’ run by Aboriginal Family violence Prevention and Legal Service Victoria and for the Good Friday Appeal. Jessica gained inspiration to begin a career within the health industry from her own experiences with personal development, physical therapies and meditation. Her passion for health and well being is a vital part of her lifestyle and has become the number one priority in her life. Jessica believes that “In order to harness creative energy a ‘strong and healthy ground’ should be present for the creation to take place.” During her studies in Remedial massage Jessica found that this approach applies when treating clients. ‘If the body’s foundation is out of balance then remedy cannot take place until the causal imbalance is addressed.’ Jessica has an extensive background in the arts. Starting out with an interest for painting, Jessica has demonstrated great talent as a real life painter. Her creativity has extended into music where she has completed an Advanced Diploma in Jazz and Popular music at NMIT. Jessica also completed a certificate IV in Hairdressing from the Australian Academy of Hairdressing. In retrospect, the prominent theme for Jessica is her hands. She has a great sense of touch and works with the intention to free and release the body of stagnation and muscular tension. She works deep within the musculature but also applies pressure intuitively, creating a deeper level of healing according to her clients needs. Make an appointment with Jessica for Remedial Massage
