It is not restricted to competitive or elite levels of sports and can benefit anyone who is seeking to get more out of themselves as a person as well as an athlete - whatever your ambition.

Michael Inglis (Sports Psychologist)


 

Michael is an experienced psychologist who specialises in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), and has completed a Masters in Sport Psychology. For the past four years he has worked with athletes in an individual, team and coach-athlete relationship formats. His thesis focused on the coach-athlete relationship where he identified the various ways coaches can teach athletes and how they respond. In addition, he established a goal setting program for athletes with injuries.

Michael For performance enhancement, he has designed structured programs to deliver to groups of athletes then follow this up with individual sessions that are more specific for their needs. The program includes skills in how to improve performance for not only when they’re competing, but in preparation and reflection of their performance as well. Both these are crucial in setting up optimal performance but are generally overrated by athletes.

Facilitating change in coaches and athletes involves identification of strengths and weaknesses by all parties followed by a review. He has conducted these reviews at the beginning of the season and outlined a plan to work on the weaknesses whilst optimising the strengths. Progression was made by athletes, particularly in applying new skills and coaches with their communication styles.
