 Vigor Running Liam leads a social running group at Princes Park every Tuesday and at Collingwood Athletics track every Thursday evening at 6:30pm-7:30pm. Sunday group runs are also organised each weekend from the Collingwood Athletics track to explore the nearby Yarra trails or we explore the trails in the surrounding State and National parks. You can join the Vigor Running Group by becoming a Vigor member for $99 a year. This gives you access to a year of coached running sessions and support for your goal events. It also gives you discounts at the Vigor Clinic so you'll get your $99 back in no time - we like to look after our runners! Supported Events
The Vigor Running Group promotes certain events so people can choose their own goal. Liam will direct participants to the appropriate events according to ability. To find an event suitable for you checkout the cool running website and speak with Liam about your next goal event.
We are now running fun Multi-Sport events which include off road running, to find out more go to the events section on the home page. The Melbourne Marathon is an excellent goal event, whether you choose the 5.5km, 10km, 21.1km or 42.2km you have to train to complete it. Liam coaches a number of people aiming for this event so if you want help to get the best out of yourself, talk to Liam at the running group. The Athletics Victoria is the state body and great value for summer and winter events. Liam wants to help everyone enjoy their health without the problems that come with running e.g. injuries/illness. Another motivation is the lack of a social running group with quality coaching. Particular attention will be given to technique along with plenty of encouragement and motivation in a social group atmosphere.
The session starts with an easy group warm up jog, brief stretch and a few run throughs, then we move into some form of efforts with recovery catered to your ability (don’t worry the quicker runners do more!), an easy jog and solid stretch to finish all in 1 hour.
Tuesdays we meet at the SE corner of Princess Park near the big tree (it’s the closest corner to Melbourne Uni). There is generally a crowd, we lock our bikes to the fence and there’s always a car to put bags in. Thursdays we meet at the Collingwood Athletics Track on Heidelberg Rd. There is clubrooms to leave bags. We run all year no matter what the weather. Christmas break will always start from Christmas day til the end of the second week in January. That means we start back on the 3rd Tuesday in January.
Running Lessons
 Liam can take 1-3 people out for 1 hour, the cost is $75 for 1, $90 for 2 or $120 for 3, Vigor members get a $10 discount. The session will focus on technique to improve speed and reduce the risk of injury. Drills and discussion will leave you plenty to work on to improve your running so you enjoy it more. You can book this online for Tuesdays at 5:30pm at Princes Park or Thursdays at 5:30pm at Collingwood Athletics track or just contact Liam if this time doesn't suit. In addition to this you can add another hour session for video analysis, this can include the group so you can learn from each other.
