What is Podiatry?
Podiatrists assess the biomechanics of the client through an analysis of the client's walking dynamics, as well as looking at the foot posture when relaxed. From this assessment, combined with an analysis of a client's history, Podiatrists can advise the best solutions for injuries/problems. This may include advice on footwear, temporary inserts/adjustments or more permanent orthotics. It is important to consider podiatry for all injuries, not just the legs. Podiatrists can correct the biomechanics, laying the foundation for Osteopaths and remedial massage therapists to assist the client back to full health. Podiatric consultations are often a good idea whenever an injury or niggle is first experienced as Podiatrists can then identify and diagnose incorrect body movement patterns and any malformations at an early stage, thus preventing what can become permanent conditions.
